The 40th annual Terry Fox Run is coming this Sunday, but you’re more than welcome to raise money and run anytime you’d like because this year the run is a virtual one due to COVID-19.
All you have to do to get involved is register online. Belleville run organizer Vicki Samaras says so far 70 people have signed up and and $9,000 has been raised.
“the Terry Fox Run, it will happen this year but it’s going to happen with your little group, your bubble, or by yourself. You know if a thousand people, a fraction of the community, donated $40 each we’d hit $40,000 for Terry.”
Last year the Belleville run raised just under $40,000. Meanwhile, since the Belleville run began in 1981 over $800,000 has been raised. That figure includes runs held at local schools.
Be sure to search out Belleville on the website https://terryfox.org/ before signing on or making a donation so the funds raised will be allocated to the local event.
