A generous donation from one of the area’s most well known family foundations has allowed important upgrades to a prominent Belleville youth
organization.
The John M. & Bernice Parrott Foundation granted $40,000 to the Belleville Sea Cadets sponsored by the Navy League of Canada, Belleville Branch, which paid the bulk of the cost for fire exit/dock replacement, shoreline restoration and the purchase of a boat shed.
The lower dock at the South Front Street building was decimated by flooding in 20017 and again in 2019.
Some of the cost came from the contribution of liquor and beer bottles to the Sea Cadets.
A ribbon-cutting is to take place Saturday afternoon (September 12).
Special guests will include Bay of Quinte riding MPP Todd Smith, mayor of Belleville Mitch Panciuk, Jennifer Bennett Navy League of Ontario President Rear Admiral (retired), and the Honorable Lyle Vanclief.
