The Belleville Police Service responded to 79 calls for service from September 4, 2020 at 5 a.m. to September 5, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Shoplifting
On September 4, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., police received a call to a north end retailer with regards to a shoplifter. The theft had been resolved prior to police arrival however the man was identified as a suspect in a theft from the same store on September 3. Thirty-one-year-old Belleville resident Brandon Tebworth was arrested for the previous theft and released on a form 9 appearance notice with a court date on October 8.
Breach of Probation
On September 4, 2020 around 12 p.m., police responded to a north end retailer with regards to a 27-year-old Belleville man who was breaching his probation for the second day in a row by attending the location. The man had just been released on an undertaking with one count of breach of probation on September 3. This time, when police located and arrested him, he was held in custody for a video remand before a Justice of The Peace on September 5. The man faces two counts of breach of probation for the most recent incident. One for attending the store and a second for not keeping the peace and being of good behaviour.
Impaired driver
On September 5, 2020 at 2:30 a.m., police were called to a North Front Street restaurant regarding an intoxicated man who had tried to walk through the drive through and had been turned away. The man returned a short time later driving a vehicle, and he attempted to place an order. Police arrived on scene, and the male was given a roadside breath test which he failed. The man was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he provided two breath samples. Francis De Grand Maison-Brassard, 26, of La Prairie Quebec was charged with driving with over 80mgs. He will appear in court on October 1, 2020.
