The back-and-forth continues between the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 29 and the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, over student mask policies.
OSSTF District 29 President Scott Marshall called the school board negligent earlier this week, when he said his members were told students who didn’t wear masks could not be removed from class, but the board countered that according to the Ministry of Labour, their policy was in line with public health and government directives.
In an early morning email Friday, Marshall says the OSSTF stands by its original release as “accurate and factual” and says the school board’s statement contains some “intentionally misleading information”.
The school board says it is following public health guidelines surrounding masks and is pointing to the HPE Public Health website for more on that, as referenced below.
