DEAD IS 43-YEAR-OLD KEVIN HIGNEY OF HAMILTON TOWNSHIP. ROADS HAVE REOPENED TO TRAFFIC.
Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a fatal single vehicle collision involving an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), that occurred on Saturday August 15, 2020, at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Old School House Road and Harwood Road.
The ATV was heading north on Harwood Road, when it then turned onto Old School House Road where it left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.
One of the riders on the ATV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other rider, a 40-year-old man, was taken to a local area hospital, but has since been transported to a trauma centre in Toronto with serious injuries.
Old School House Road and Harwood Road are currently closed between Rice Lake Scenic Drive and Corkery Road. They are expected to be closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measure and document the scene. The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending confirmation of next of kin
notification.
