We may soon hear the sound of skates hitting the ice at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, along with the restart of more programming and activities.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk gave a couple of COVID-19 operations updates at council’s meeting on Monday night and says they are working on recalling staff and restarting programs at the wellness centre, including adding ice to one of the four arenas.
Panciuk says ice will go in on the Wally Dever Arena on September 1, with bookings beginning on September 14 and they are looking to hopefully get a second pad and the pool, open by the end of September, barring any spikes in the local COVID-19 numbers.
He also says that the city is set to begin taking bookings for outdoor events that fit within the provincial criteria of a maximum of 100 people gathering outside.
He added that Belleville Transit will also continue to be free through the end of September, but is reminding riders that masks must be worn.
We’ll continue to update all of the city’s reopening measures as they happen.
