Belleville Council has cleared the way for major demolition projects on two recently purchased properties.
City Council has given the green light to tear down a home at 664 Point Anne Lane, which was bought in 2019, along with the old Hillcrest Public School on West Street.
Fourteen tenders were put out for the projects, with Maxx North American Group Inc. being slected to do the work, at a cost of just over $231,000, with council agreeing to move $250,000 from reserves to pay for the project.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says community consultations will take place soon to decide what should be going on those properties in the future.
