The Canada United initiative is hitting Quinte West the weekend of August 28.
Quinte West council agreed Monday night to take part in the country-wide initiative partnered with RBC to promote local shopping during the times of the pandemic.
The motion passed very quickly and officially designates that weekend to promote local shopping to help out local stores. The Quinte West Chamber of Commerce is also a partner in the initiative and brought the idea to council.
As part of Canada United there are grants up to $5,000 for small businesses throughout the country. The money pool for the grants will grow as RBC is contributing five cents for every video view and post ‘like’ on the official social media accounts (@GoCanadaUnited). The grants are designed to assist small businesses in buying PPE and renovating to fit social distancing rules among other things.
Canada United weekend in Quinte West kicks off Friday, August 28 and carries through the weekend.
