Some people may have increased their beer consumption throughout the pandemic and those empty bottles have helped to fill out some fundraising need for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation.
A group of six local Beer Stores in Belleville, Madoc, Marmora, Northbrook and Kingston had customers donate their empty bottle return change back to the foundation, with a grand total of $19,522.
With the pandemic ongoing, the stores say they will continue to donate bottle return change right through the Labour Day long weekend.
BGHF Executive Director Steve Cook says the foundation is “extremely grateful for the donations”.
