While the Ontario Government has given many businesses and services providers the go-ahead to reopen with some restrictions as of Friday, users of local YMCA facilities, will have to wait a little bit longer.

A press release from the YMCA of Central East Ontario, which operates facilities in Belleville and Quinte West, says it is aiming to reopen on September 1.
President and CEO Dave Allen says the first priority is to ensure the health and safety of all members, their families and staff and the ‘Y’ needs to see and fully understand the new policies and guidelines, and ensure they are implemented properly.
Some of those safety measures will include glass barriers being installed at membership and reception desks, health screenings upon entering the facility, contactless scan-in stations, physical distancing measure, increased sanitization and limits on building access and class sizes.
