On July 11, 2020 at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to disturbance at a home in Greater Napanee.
Investigation revealed that two young people were engaged in a verbal dispute when the female attempted to leave in a vehicle, striking a pedestrian at the scene.
While making the arrest, officers were assaulted.
L&A County OPP have arrested and charged a 17-year-old female from Greater Napanee, Ontario contrary to the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
- Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit,
- Assault Peace Officer,
- Resist Peace Officer,
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,
- Take motor vehicle without consent; and
- Fail to comply with undertaking.
She is also charged with driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on September 14, 2020. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
