The Haliburton, Kawartha and Pine Ridge District Health Unit has issued a class order to owners and operators of farms in that region that employ migrant or temporary workers.
This comes in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic during which clusters of infections have been observed among migrant workers in the province.
Under the order, agricultural farm owners and operators must adhere to a number of rules including:
– Notifying the health unit when migrant or temporary farm workers arrive
– Ensuring that all current and future employees are working exclusively at one workplace
– Ensuring a 14-day quarantine once temporary farm workers arrive
– Providing accommodations that have been inspected by the health unit and providing groceries or meals for the duration of the temporary farm worker’s quarantine period
– Following directions provided by the health unit.
The order takes effect Thursday, July 9 at noon and will be in effect until further notice.
