Belleville police played an instrumental role in calming a situation and possibly saving a mother from being harmed by her son yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
Officers were called to a home in the southwest part of the city shortly before 3 o’clock to find a very angry youth armed with a knife and threatening his mother.
Thousands of dollars of damage had been done to items in the home when officers arrived.
The mother informed police that her son suffered from mental health issues and officers calmed him down and helped paramedics get him to hospital.
The youth faces charges and is in the custody of Providence Care in Kingston.
