Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk is urging Belleville residents to mark this Canada Day by appreciating how lucky they are to be Canadians.
Mayor Panciuk comments to Quinte News “This is going to be a Canada Day like none we’ve had before.”
His message is to “take a moment and reflect that even in these COVID-19 times we’re still lucky to be Canadian.”
He added that the country, province and city still have much to work on, but in his words “it’s a pretty good place to live.”
He urges residents to enjoy the day, and even though there’s no big celebration, a number of businesses will be open.
Panciuk says that on Canada Day, “If you’re feeling at all that you might have symptoms or concerns about COVID-19, the assessment centre will be open all day from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. ”
He added, “There are a number of things we can do to pay it forward to our community. The Chamber of Commerce is going to be doing a limited drive-by, a presentation for some of our heroes in our community. I think this Canada Day is going to be one that will make us really look forward to the 2021 Canada Day.”
