A Brighton resident has been charged after a crash on Chapel Street on Saturday night.
OPP, the Brighton Fire Department and Northumberland Paramedics responded to the single-vehicle crash, around 10:45 p.m. where a white Dodge pickup had hit a tree.
Police say the driver, who wasn’t hurt, told them they had swerved to avoid an animal, before hitting the tree and a guide wire for a hydro pole.
The 39-year-old passed a roadside screening test for impairment and was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
