The situation at both Hastings County Long Term Care Homes has returned to what has been called “a new normal.”
County CAO Jim Pine reported to a virtual meeting of Hastings County Council on Thursday that Long Term Care workers will be tested every two weeks for COVID-19.
“We heard yesterday in our call with Public Health that Long Term Care workers would be tested every two weeks going forward. The province has made that decision. I know that Debbie (Rollins, Director of LTC) and Doug (Socha Chief of Paramedic Services) are working with Public Health around putting that regime in place…That’s interesting, good news.”
Pine referred to what he called the “new normal for the Long Term Care Homes.”
He indicated new admissions are now being accepted at the two long term homes.
Pine referred to the recent report from the Canadian military which had found some dreadful lack of care experiences in some homes in Quebec and Ontario.
He noted Hastings County officials had reassured families about the situation in local homes.
