Rezoning approved
A marijuana grow operation, proposed for a warehouse in Belleville’s east end, has been given the green light.
At its virtual meeting on Monday, City council approved the rezoning of part of the building at 665 Dundas Street East.
A move by Councillor Pat Culhane to have the matter delayed to next council meeting, to obtain more information about the odour suppression technology, lost on a recorded vote, with Culhane voting against her own motion.
Chair of Planning Councillor Paul Carr told council the issues had been dealt with.
A staff report indicated any public concerns regarding odour would be mitigated by Heath Canada’s requirement for an air filtration system.
Manager of Development and Strategic Initiatives Karen Poste told council the company is expected to begin work immediately.
Parks and Recreation Master Plan
Belleville has set the stage for a new plan to shape the future of its parks and recreation facilities.
At its virtual meeting on Monday, city council gave pre-budget approval to hire a consulting firm to create a two-phase Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
Council approved the hiring of Sierra Planning and Management to do the work, at a cost of $236,864, including tax.
The contract calls for a Phase One completion date of October this year.
Phase Two and a final report are scheduled for May of 2021.
