Thirteen Loyalist College photojournalism graduates have made what you could call, “a photo finish.”
All thirteen have received 2019 National Pictures of the Year awards from the News Photographers Association of Canada.
Ben Nelms, a 2010 graduate, was named Photo-journalist of the Year, and Alex Philippe, a Loyalist student, was named Student Photographer of the Year.
Loyalist was represented in 14 of the 16 award categories.
In a release, Loyalist President Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan said, “Congratulations to this year’s NPOY award recipients. We follow the careers of our Photojournalism students closely and admire their contributions to visual storytelling. Our Loyalist community is proud of their accomplishments and those of our faculty, respected photojournalists from whom they have learned.”
