Businesses on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory have reopened today, after a brief closure to put extra safety precautions in place, to protect against the novel coronavirus.
The band council issued a letter to businesses last night thanking them for making sacrifices in closing for a few days to protect the community and also telling those who didn’t shut down, that their business registrations have been forfeited and will be under review.
The letter goes on to say that “no one individual is above the well being of the community” and that everyone needs to work together, by following the safety protocols, in order to get through the pandemic “as safely and healthy as possible”.
The band council says it will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates or orders as needed.
