While the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hastings Prince Edward continues to remain fairly low it’s quite a different story just to our west.
The Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, which covers Northumberland County is reporting 41 lab-confirmed cases in its area, including 11 deaths.
Eight of those cases are in Northumberland County and 33 are in the City of Kawartha Lakes, which includes 27 at the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon, north of Peterborough.
Nine of the deaths reported have been residents at the Pinecrest facility, with 24 staff there also confirmed to have the virus.
Ten staff there have results pending and six staff members have tested negative.
Two other people in the HKPR area have died from the virus, with one of those people being connected to the nursing home, but not a resident there.
