There is some good news in the midst of all the COVID-19 bad news.
Businesses in Belleville have been impacted by the restrictions put on by the provincial and federal governments, causing shutdowns.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk tells Quinte News the city has been trying to gauge just how much the community has been impacted.
He says there is bad news when companies have had to lay off employees but some businesses such as grocery stores are now hiring help for cleaning and sanitizing jobs.
Industries are also hiring.
Panciuk says the city is trying to help match up places that might be laying off employees with places that are hiring them.
He also pointed to the local hotels that took in students who had to leave residence at Loyalist College.
He says the upcoming week should give a better understanding how long the pandemic restrictions will last.
