Grocery stores and drug stores are seeing a major increase in business in the past couple of days in the Quinte region.
Wayne Dewe of Dewe’s Independent Grocer in Belleville says people have been out in droves and concern about the coronavirus is behind the shopping spree.
Dewe says staff are working hard to get products on the shelves and they’ve increased the amounts on order for some items but so has every store, so the supply chain from manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer is under a lot of strain.
Meanwhile, with the exception of one person who is under quarantine and in isolation at CFB Trenton there have been no reports of any COVID 9 infection in the Quinte region.
