Hastings County has delayed its decision about putting two representatives on the board of the new provincial Rural Hastings Ontario Health Team steering committee.
Mayor of Centre Hastings Tom Deline told council recently he had “no sympathy for the former Local Health Integrated Network” and he cautioned council members “about the new group.”
Deline tells Quinte News.
He added, “I have a concern with what’s going on.”
The Ontario government disbanded the LHINs as part of its restructuring of health care.
Executive Director of Gateway Community Health Centre Lyn Linton says the county has an important role with the steering committee since it’s involved in such things as paramedicine and public health.
Linton tells Quinte News it will not be an “organization, but a partnership on how to improve access to care and keep people out of hospital.”
County Council decided to delay its decision until the next Finance Committee meeting, later this month.
