A number of events are planned in Belleville to mark International Women’s Day 2020.
International Women’s Day is set for Sunday, March 8, but the day will be marked at two events, a little earlier in Belleville.
There will be a dinner with a speaker on Tuesday evening, and a Women’s Day march on Thursday.
Kristen Farrell of Three Oaks Women’s Shelter, one of the organizers, tells Quinte News the annual women’s march brings women together on both women’s rights and human rights.
Farrell says an Environmental Feminism dinner sponsored by Three Oaks will be held Tuesday evening at the Banquet Centre.
This will feature guest speaker Maude Barlow.
The annual Women’s day march will be held Thursday, leaving Belleville Public Library at 4:30 p.m.
Afterward the founder of Courage for Freedom, Kelly Talon Franklin, will speak at the library.
