A Bowmanville man with ties to Prince Edward County has been sentenced and will spend time in jail in connection to various historical, sex-related charges.
Michael Vanginhoven was arrested in December of last year and charged with five counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference, two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm, as well as one count each of of sexual exploitation, invitation to sexual touching, uttering threats and incest.
He pleaded guilty to a handful of those charges on July 10 and was sentenced on October 22.
Vanginhoven, who was 41 at the time of his arrest, was handed a three year prison term, a 10 year weapons ban and a 10 year prohibition of being in public places frequented by minors.
He is also subject to a DNA order and has been placed on the sex offender registry for life.
