Belleville Transit’s on-demand bus service is getting some national recognition.
The service and its developer Pantonium Inc., will be receiving the Canadian Urban Transit Association’s Innovation in Transit Award, in Calgary next month.
The award recognizes technical and process innovations that break convention and extend beyond marginal improvements to products and services.
The on-demand service was launched in September of 2018, with one fixed route, but was expanded just two weeks later due to high demand.
The service has more than 9,000 registered users, carrying between 250 and 300 passengers per night.
