Hastings-Lennox and Addington has gone from red to blue, as Conservative Derek Sloan defeated incumbent Liberal Mike Bossio, by earning roughly 41.4% of the vote.
In a speech at his campaign celebration in Napanee, Sloan thanked his supporters and says he’s ready to get to work.
Bossio finished with about 37% of the vote and says everyone in Ottawa will have to work together and support the new minority government.
The NDP’s David Tough came in third at around 13.3%, followed by the Green Party’s Sari Watson at roughly 5.8% and the PPC’s Adam Grey at about 2.5%.
Early voter turnout in the riding was close to 64.09%, which is down from 67% in 2015.
