In the event of an emergency, having as many resources available just makes sense and that was the logic behind a mutual support agreement agreed upon by council in Prince Edward County.
Council approved a motion to enter into a draft agreement with Centre Hastings, Madoc, Marmora and Lake, Stirling-Rawdon, Tweed, Deseronto, Tyendinaga, Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, Belleville and Quinte West.
Fire Chief Scott Manlow says the agreement will allow neighbouring municipalities to provide human and material resources in a timely and efficient manner.
The agreement was developed by Centre Hastings to assist other lower tier municipalities within Hastings County during a declared emergency.
The agreement will be up for final approval at a meeting later this month.
