Council in Prince Edward County will hear from three deputations prior to making a decision tonight (Tuesday) regarding a rezoning on Fairfield Street.
Council is being asked to address a rezoning request to allow William and Beverley Harney to have a second storey tourist accommodation unit above an existing boathouse.
The deputations address potential lost revenue faced by one couple if council chooses to exclude second units before new by-laws are enforced, health concerns because of the water, parking concerns and safety issues.
The rezoning comes to council because it did not receive the two thirds majority vote required by the planning committee.
The motion before council would allow for a sanitary sewer and water mains extension.
The extension would be located through the County-owned parcel used as parking for the Picton Yacht Club, connecting to the Bay Street/Hill Street road allowance.
The applicant is also proposing an easement to allow for the use of the general parking at 30 Fairfield.
This issue was originally scheduled to be addressed last month and was deferred to August 13.
Council meets at 7 p.m. at Shire Hall.
