East Region OPP have released their Civic Long Weekend traffic results and officers laid over eight thousand charges across the province.
There were 53 charges laid as drivers failed to slow down and move over despite the OPP letting motorists know in advance of the Move Over campaign ahead of the weekend.
East Region officers also issued 1,073 speeding charges, 22 of which were stunt driving or racing charges.
Police say driver inattention and excessive speed were reported as the primary causes of two deaths in motor vehicle collisions and two men were also killed in off-road collisions, citing loss of control, excessive speed and alcohol being a factor in one incident.
The OPP is encouraging Ontarians to exercise the positive influence they can have on family members who drive off-road vehicles.
