Visits have been suspended at Collins Bay Institution and a lockdown is in place at the medium security unit of the Kingston prison.
Prison staff say they will be conducting a search of the unit to “ensure the safety and security of the institution, staff and inmates” and that normal operations will resume once it is considered safe.
If you had a visit planned you’re asked to contact the institution directly.
