Quinte West City staff have released a repair timeline for a section of Trenton-Frankford Road which was heavily damaged by a dam failure last weekend and say it will take about a month to get everything back to normal.
The dam, operated by a Quebec-based company called Innergex Renewable Energy, malfunctioned after a power outage and caused a large section of the road to collapse.
The city will be working with a number of stakeholders including contractors, Sonoco, Union Gas and Enbridge, Parks Canada and Lower Trent Conservation, to get the road repaired as soon as possible.
Contractors will begin their work next week, with Union Gas and Enbridge lowering the high pressure gas main the week of July 2, a new culvert going in the week of July 8 and grinding and repaving beginning the week of July 15.
The river bank will be stabilized and guard rails will be replaced the week of July 22 and the road should be opened by the end of July.
The flooding also caused some erosion to the habitat of two endangered fish species during their spawning season and the city will be working closely with Parks Canada, to make sure there is no more damage there.
Trenton-Frankford Road will remain closed in Glen Miller throughout the course of the repairs.
City staff say there will be access from the north for traffic going to the Sonoco plant only and McAuley Road/Bernard Long Road will also remain closed, with access via Stockdale Road, for local traffic only.
