There will be a change of duties for Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith.
As part of Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet shuffle announced Thursday, Smith has been shifted to the Children, Community, and Social Services Ministry.
Some of his new responsibilities include overseeing the autism file, adoption, employment assistance and child support.
Smith tells Quinte News he’s excited to take over a challenging file.
With the move, Smith will no longer serve as Government House Leader or Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade.
While his new role may not be as high profile as the Government House Leader position, Smith says the timing was right to move some cabinet members around.
Smith added that he’s excited to work with his new Associate Minister for Children and Women’s Issues Jill Dunlop, who was elected in 2018 and serves as the MPP for Simcoe North.
Hastings Lennox & Addington MPP Daryl Kramp was not named as a member of the new cabinet on Thursday.
