As part of the clean-up, Quinte area residents can join in on the volunteer initiative which aims to have 100 clean-up events held by the end of this month.
A Greener Future founder Rochelle Byrne tells Quinte News Wellington Beach just opened this week, due to high water levels and there is a lot of litter that needs to be picked up.
Byrne adds that there are still about 20 clean-ups left to go and volunteers have already collected more than 89,000 pieces of debris this year, which is higher than any of the program’s other four years, to this point.
She says the group recently received an environmental award from the Lieutenant-Governor and it’s incredible to have her in-person support on the Love Your Lake program.
The clean-up runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday June 23, 2019, at Wellington Beach and volunteers will be provided with litter pickers, gloves and bags.
If you’re taking part, you’re remind to dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle, to stay hydrated.
