Quinte Health Care has received an exemplary grade from Accreditation Canada for the second straight evaluation period, which dates back to May of 2015, the last time the hospital group was reviewed.
That designation is the highest issued through the national hospital accreditation program.
QHC scored 100% on its required organizational practices, which include things like safety culture, communication, medication use, work life, infection control and risk assessment.
The local hospital group also scored 99.4% on Accreditation Canada’s standards of high quality care and service.
Among the hospitals’ strengths, the organization cites the staff and physicians as a major key to its success, along with the Board of Directors’ role in identifying patient safety as a key strategic priority.
CEO Mary-Clare Egberts says “she’s not surprised by the fantastic results”.
