A lockdown was put in place at North Hastings High School in Bancroft around the noon hour Thursday, but has since been lifted.
Hastings Prince Edward School Board spokesperson Kerry Donnell tells Quinte News the lockdown was put in place as a precaution after a “loud sound” was heard outside, but was lifted around 1:30 p.m..
OPP investigated and were able to use a traffic camera in the area to determine that a fire cracker had been lit and dropped in a garbage can on school property, but there was no true risk to student safety.
At this point there is no word on any charges, but anyone who might have information is asked to call OPP or Crimestoppers.
