A massive private-public partnership just got a huge infusion from the province.
Friday morning in Roseneath, northwest of Colborne, Infrastructure Minister Monte McNaughton announced $71 million for the Eastern Ontario Rural Network.
It completes the high speed internet connectivity, and better mobile coverage for all of eastern Ontario.
The total cost of the entire EORN project is $213 million, and the province has partnered with area municipalites and the federal government.
Hastings Lennox and Addington MPP Daryl Kramp says the second phase of funding will fill in all the gaps and complete the emergency network in the area, which covers our listening region. He says it has been a focus of his for a long time.
Northumberland Peterborough South MPP David Piccini says this is a massive project for rural regions.
Hastings County Warden and Tyendinaga Township Reeve Rick Phillips says it is a game changer.
Minister McNaughton says this helps all facets of life.
