The 2026-2027 season officially kicked off with a few of our Quinte teams in tournaments this past weekend.
The County Cooperage U10 Quinte Red Devils kicked off their season in Peterborough at the Pat Larock Memorial Tournament. In round robin play, the team went undefeated after 4 games, scoring 25 goals and only allowing 6 goals against.
Sunday morning opened with a quarter-final game against the Credit River Capitals. After a tough battle the team came away with a 4-1 win. The semifinal game was against the London Jr Knights. Both teams battled hard all 3 periods with our 2017 QRD team coming away with a hard fought 3-2.
The finals were set with a highly anticipated matchup with a division rival; the Central Ontario Wolves. Both teams played hard and battled every shift, at the end of regulation, the game was tied 3-3. In overtime, The County Cooperage 2017 Quinte Red Devils team applied immediate pressure and ended the game in under a minute to capture the championship game going undefeated for the weekend.
Our U12’s Battle Hard at the Preseason Byfield Steamtrain Shootout
The CIBC Wood Gundy-Rob Jones U12 AAA Quinte Red Devils delivered an action-packed weekend of hockey in Aurora, battling through a competitive field at the Quinton Byfield Steamtrain Shootout hosted by the York Simcoe Express.
The Red Devils came out of the gate strong early Friday morning, kicking off the tournament with a decisive 4-1 victory over Detroit Compuware. Aiden Ferreira stood tall between the pipes, while the offense fired on all cylinders. Dawson led the attack with two goals, accompanied by goals from McCormick and Lalonde. Assists were picked up to Baily (2), Lalonde, Kolga, Cooke, White, and McCormick.
Friday afternoon brought a tougher test against a relentless Markham Waxers squad. With Courtney getting the start in net, Cooper Lacaria lit the lamp for Quinte in the second period, set up by Felix Charbonneau. Cooke added a third-period goal, but the Red Devils ultimately fell short in a hard-fought 4-2 decision.
Quinte bounced right back on Saturday morning against YSE. Baily opened the scoring in the first frame off a feed from Charbonneau, before Unger doubled the lead courtesy of Cooke. The momentum kept rolling as McCormick found the net (assisted by Dawson and Baily), while Hickey and White each chipped in unassisted markers to lock up a solid 5-3 win.
Saturday afternoon proved to be a battle, as the U12s went toe-to-toe with the undefeated Ottawa Meyers Automotive. With Courtney between the pipes, both teams staged a fast-paced, relentless test. Unger and Cooke (2) scored for Quinte, with helpers from Unger, Lacaria (2), Cooke, and McCormick. The dramatic nailbiter remained tied until the final minute, when Ottawa scored in the closing seconds to pull out a heartbreaking 4-3 victory.
Refusing to let the tough loss keep them down, the Red Devils closed out their weekend in style on Sunday morning against the Buffalo Regals. Once Quinte found its rhythm they never looked back, storming to a dominant 7-0 victory, with Ferreira earning the shutout. The scoring attack was led by multi-goal performances from McCormick (2), Unger (2), and Cooke (2), alongside a single from White. Assisting on the offensive outburst were Baily (2), Silverburg (2), Cooke, Lalonde, Withers, and Steed.
Next Up: The U12s will continue putting in work on the practice ice over the next couple of weeks as they prepare for regular-season action. They travel to face the Peterborough Petes in their season opener on Thursday, October 2nd at 7:15 PM, followed by their home opener on Saturday, October 4th in Campbellford, where they get a rematch against the Markham Waxers. The Cozy Heating & Air Conditioning U15s Battle Their Way to Tournament Semifinals
Our u15s competed in the Greater Kingston Early Bird Tournament this past weekend, earning wins, overcoming challenges, and securing a spot in the semifinals.
The U15 Cozy Heating & Air Conditioning Quinte Red Devils opened tournament action late Friday morning against the Grey Bruce Highlanders. Quinte got on the board first with a shorthanded marker, showing plenty of energy on the penalty kill. The Devils added another goal on the power play in the second period to take a two-goal advantage into the final frame. The Highlanders answered back with two third-period goals to even the score. Everett Brown and Colton Douglas found the back of the net for Quinte, with Cooper Plumley and Jack Paddon picking up assists. Hayden Tripp stood tall in net as the Devils battled to a hard-fought draw.
The U15 Devils returned to the ice Friday night for a matchup with the Cambridge Hawks and came out flying. Quinte struck twice in the opening frame, including a power-play goal, to establish an early lead. The team continued to make an impact in the second, adding a shorthanded marker. QRD poured on the pressure in the third period, scoring three more times to secure a commanding 6-0 victory. Cooper Plumley led the offensive charge with a hat trick, while Nathaniel Blue, Everett Brown, and Jamieson Dee also found the back of the net. Assists went to Everett Brown, Antonio Auciello (2), Colton Douglas, Jack Paddon, Nathaniel Blue, Keaton Clute, and Kingston Holzmann. Benjamin Larmer posted the shutout between the pipes.
The Devils were back in action Saturday morning against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. Quinte opened the scoring in the first period, carrying a one-goal lead into the second frame. The Raiders responded with four goals in the middle period, including a power-play marker, to take control of the game. Ajax-Pickering added another goal early in the third period, extending their lead and ultimately securing a 5-1 victory. Cooper Plumley provided QRD’s lone goal, with Kadyn Bowden earning the assist. Hayden Tripp got the start in net.
The U15s wrapped up Saturday’s games with an evening matchup against the Toronto Young Nationals. The opening period saw both teams battle hard, but neither could break through on the scoresheet. QRD opened the scoring in the second period, putting Toronto on its heels. The Nationals responded with three goals of their own, including two on the power play, to take a 3-1 lead into the final frame. Neither team found the back of the net in the third as Toronto held on for the win. Cooper Plumley scored Quinte’s lone goal, with Colton Douglas and Antonio Auciello earning assists. Benjamin Larmer was solid in net. Despite the loss, QRD advanced to Sunday’s semifinals.
The U15 Quinte Red Devils returned to the ice Sunday morning for a semifinal rematch against the Toronto Young Nationals. Toronto came out strong, scoring three times in the opening period to build an early lead. QRD responded in the second, cutting into the deficit with a goal of their own, but the Nationals answered back with a power-play marker to restore their three-goal advantage. Toronto added two more goals in the third period to secure the victory and bring QRD’s tournament run to an end. Kingston Holzmann scored for the Red Devils, with Keaton Clute and Antonio Auciello picking up the assists. Benjamin Larmer made several key stops between the pipes as QRD battled until the final buzzer.
