The City of Belleville is closing Victoria Harbour to all non-local boat traffic.
While the Victoria Day Long Weekend is typically a hotbed of activity in the harbour, city officials are asking boaters to respect the restriction, to avoid any wake damage to vessels and the shoreline.
The City has taken a number of steps to mitigate flood-related issues including posting a “no wake” sign, placing water walls along Meyers Pier, closing section of South George Street and Harbour Drive, and elevating South Church and John Streets, so residents can get into their homes.
While the harbour is closed, the George Street boat launch is still open, but is no longer accessible from harbour Drive.
If you’re concerned about water levles around your home, you can contact the city’s operational services customer line at 613-967-3275.
