Parks Canada is delaying the opening of the navigational season on the Trent-Severn Waterway due to unsafe boating conditions.
Spring snow melt and heavy rain have caused extremely high water levels throughout the waterway and Parks Canada says the decision is being made in the interest of safety for boaters and visitors.
The TSW will remain closed to all boat traffic until at least May 24, to ensure there is less shoreline erosion and damage to property.
Other water-based activities are being discouraged as well.
Parks Canada says starting May 17, land-based visits to its lock station will still be allowed and staff will be on hand, with other updates available by following @TrentSevernNHS on Twitter.
