Weather conditions seem to be improving in parts of the region, but there are still some road closures in place.
The westbound 401 is still closed between County Road 30 in Brighton and the Grafton exit, as crews work to clear the scene of multiple crashes from earlier on.
Drivers are reminded to take it easy as road conditions still aren’t great.

UPDATE @ 2:30 p.m.:
Provincial Police have now closed both lanes of Highway 401 through the Brighton area because of whiteout conditions.
The westbound side was closed earlier this afternoon, after multiple crashes involving cars and transports were reported, but now OPP say the eastbound lanes will be closed as well.
The closure westbound is from Brighton to Cobourg, while the eastbound closure is from Brighton, to County Road 40 in Quinte West.
Detours are in place at both sides of the closure, in both directions.

A section of Highway 401 is closed this afternoon after multiple crashes were reported, including several involving tractor trailers.
Northumberland OPP say the westbound lanes are closed between County Road 30 in Brighton and Cobourg.
Drivers are being asked to use caution and follow detour routes at the scene.
The eastbound lanes are still open but traffic is moving slowly in whiteout conditions.
No word on when the closure will be lifted.
Northumberland OPP are asking any drivers involved in minor collisions today, that don’t result in injuries, to report to the Collision Reporting Centre that has been set up at the Cobourg OPP Detachment located at 1165 Division Street, Cobourg.
