On February 27, 2019 at approximately 3:40 a.m. officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several reports of two people entering parked vehicles in the area of Henry Street, Gotha Street and Alberta Street in the City of Quinte West.
The two males fled on foot after officers located the suspects in the area. After a short foot chase both suspects were arrested.
A 14-year-old male youth of Quinte West was charged with:
- Trespassing at Night (2 counts) and
- Theft Under $5000
The youth is scheduled before the Youth Justice Court in Belleville on April 2, 2019.
Dorean Geertsma, 21 years old of Quinte West, was charged with:
- Trespassing at Night (3 Counts)
- Theft Under $5000 (2 Counts)
- Possession of Break and Enter Tools
- Possession of schedule I substance – Methamphetamine
- Breach Probation (4 Counts)
The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Belleville on February 27, 2018.
