The Special Investigations Unit has completed its investigation into a fatal crash last March.
On March 6, 2018, there was a two-vehicle crash in Napanee on Old Highway 2, between Palace and Switzerville Roads.
Eighty-eight-year-old Florence Wyatt-Morris of Napanee was killed after an SUV slammed head on into her Chrysler Sebring.
Around 3:30 p.m., the OPP were notified that a grey SUV had driven on the wrong side of the road on Highway 2 in Shannonville, and had reportedly driven through a stop sign, going about 200 km/h.
Police chased the vehicle east through Napanee, with it winding up at the crash site, east of the town.
Reports indicate that the suspect intentionally drove his SUV head on into the car, travelling about 140 km/h.
Wyatt-Morris died at the scene, while the suspect was taken to hospital with a badly fractured left arm and multiple injuries.
SIU Director Tony Loparco says there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against the OPP involved in the chase.
Forty-two-year-old Andrew Slapkauskas from Belleville, was charged with first degree murder, attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from police.
Slapkauskas’ next court date is slated for April 5 at 2 p.m.
