The City of Belleville will hear from two different marijuana pharmaceutical companies at an upcoming meeting in March.
On Monday, March 4, two groups will make a presentation to the city’s Planning Committee, for separate operations, both located at 250 Sidney Street in Belleville.
One will be Abattis Bioceuticals, which would look at extraction for pharmaceutical purposes.
They have tried once already to receive municipal approval and it failed, however changes have been made to their application.
They are said to be looking at a 10-year lease, and would start with 10-15 employees, if approved.
Another pharmaceutical operation will also speak around the horseshoe.
That company’s name is not known, but we are being told they are looking at 15 to 20 employees to start.
Both proposed labs have also expressed interest in additional space for possible future expansion.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk tells Quinte News both applications would go to the Planning Committee for approval first.
No timeline has been given by either company for opening, if their submissions are approved.
