A local internet safety educator is expanding his program, in partnership with a long time internet crimes investigator in the US.
The Digital Empowerment Project Canada has officially launched in the Quinte Region, in cooperation with the Ohio-based DEP program, run by former Internet Crimes Against Children Investigator Scott Frank.
Matt Richardson, who has been sharing internet safety messages locally for the last few years says while safety is still first and foremost, the partnership will help the program touch on a broader range of topics.
He adds that in 2019, it’s crucial to get these messages out to young people, who are growing up with the technology.
Richardson says the DEP isn’t just for kids. Programs are also offered for parents, teens and other community groups.
He says the goal is to spread the program’s message across Ontario and into other provinces as well.
