Napanee OPP are reporting they responded to 28 crashes overnight as a result of the winter weather that hit the region yesterday.
They say 60% of the collisions were on the 401 while the remainder were in Lennox and Addington County and Tyendinaga Township.
A 21-year-old male of Tyendinaga First Nation has been charged with careless driving after he attempted to pass another vehicle on Old Hwy 2 in Tyendinaga Twp.
The driver lost control and his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. A passenger in this vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
While the 401 is open there are two transports still in the ditch that will require an extensive recovery operation according to police.
Those trucks are both on the 401 westbound. The first truck is in the area of Hwy. 49 and Wymans Road and the other is 300 metres east of Glen Miller Road.
OPP are reminding drivers to reduce speeds and maintain vehicles for poor winter road conditions. Proper tires, clearing snow and ice off vehicles and allowing more time for travel will decrease your chances of being involved in a collision.
