The Wellington Dukes lost a two-goal third period lead and the game in Newmarket Thursdday night, falling 4-3 in double overtime.
Quinn Hanna scored his first goal as a Duke in the losing effort, local products Ben Roger and Daniel Panetta also tallied for Wellington.
Dalton Bancroft picked up a pair of helpers and Danick Francoeur stopped 24 in the defeat.
Wellington outshot Newmarket 46-28.
Next up is a date with the East division rival Whitby Fury Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Lehigh Arena. The Trenton Golden Hawks also play Friday at home, they face the Toronto Patriots at 7:30 p.m.
