A local former NHL player has died.
Greg Terrion of Marmora was 58.
His death was announced in a tweet from the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday afternoon.
Terrion spent eight seasons in the NHL, including six with the Maple Leafs, and started his career with the Los Angeles Kings after being drafted in the second round by them in 1980. He accumulated 243 points in 561 career games.
Terrion retired in 1989 after a 60-game stint with the Maple Leafs then-AHL affiliate, the Newmarket Saints.
Prior to his pro career, he suited up for the Belleville Jr. B Bobcats in 1976-77 and went on to play three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League for the Hamilton Fincups and Brantford Alexanders.
The cause of Terrion’s death is currently unknown.
