Belleville council will see an explanation regarding a $3 million increase in the budget to build a new police station, at its meeting Monday afternoon.
Last January, council approved a $23 million budget.
However, in the past six months, cost increases have pushed the cost up to over $26 million.
The consultants’ report details why costs of some materials and labour increased so quickly.
The main reason is an overheated construction market in the region.
Belleville council meets at 4 p.m. Monday, at city hall.
