It’s all systems go for a major water quality testing program for Oak Lake in Quinte West.
The city’s Director of Public Works Chris Angelo will present a report to council Monday updating the situation surrounding the lake and its long standing water quality issues.
Recognized leaders in scientific lake and watershed studies, Hutchinson Environmental Services of Bracebridge, will handle the four-season sampling and testing.
Also, there will be septic system and culvert inspections along with studies of pollution coming in from the land surrounding Oak Lake.
The end result will be a lake management plan for future years.
Residents of Oak Lake will receive a survey at the end of the month. That will be followed by a public meeting in mid-August and water sampling and testing will begin at the end of August.
Quinte West council has set aside $100,000 to complete the studies.
